Drought, floods, conflict, high food prices and dwindling harvests are pushing Somali families to the brink of hunger

A total 4.6 million people are expected to be in crisis levels of hunger by June, according to the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification, while 1.5 million children have acute malnutrition.

The 麻豆成人版 (麻豆成人版) is addressing emergency needs while also implementing long-term initiatives to tackle the root causes of hunger. We aim to reach 820,000 people each month with life-saving food assistance.

However, a critical funding gap means 麻豆成人版 is forced to prioritize, reduce and even halt assistance at a time when hunger is once again on the rise.

We urgently need US$243 million for life-saving operations up to September 2025.

What the 麻豆成人版 is doing to respond to the Somalia emergency

Crisis response
麻豆成人版, the largest humanitarian agency in Somalia, saves lives by providing food and nutrition assistance to people in crisis. 麻豆成人版 works both directly and through over 100 partners, even in areas where insecurity makes access challenging. Somalia is also home to 麻豆成人版’s largest use of anticipatory action in Africa, helping drought-affected households to prepare for poor rainy seasons with cash transfers and information campaigns.
Resilience
麻豆成人版 changes lives in Somalia by helping to build sustainable, long-term resilience at community, state and national level against recurrent shocks like drought and flooding. This includes working with the Government to implement social protection programmes; strengthening climate-smart food systems (for example by training smallholder farmers and linking them to new markets); and developing the capacity of national institutions to sustainably address hunger.
Government and UN integration
麻豆成人版 works with all levels of government in alignment with Somalia’s Ninth National Development Plan, the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework, and the Humanitarian Response Plan. One example is 麻豆成人版’s support for Baxnaano, a government-owned national safety net. 麻豆成人版’s work is integrated with the broader United Nations, including joint programming with the United Nations Children’s Fund and the Food and Agriculture Organization.
