European Union helps sustain critical Â鶹³ÉÈ˰æ food and cash assistance along Ukraine's frontline
¡°The EU¡¯s support comes at a critical time when humanitarian funding for Ukraine is stretched thin, while the situation near the frontline continues to worsen, with daily attacks intensifying,¡± said Â鶹³ÉÈ˰æ Deputy Country Director in Ukraine Nanna Skau. ¡°This will help ensure that families in frontline regions can continue to put food on the table without cutting other vital expenses or going into debt, particularly ahead of the difficult winter months.¡±
Funding from the European Union will enable Â鶹³ÉÈ˰æ and its local partners to continue delivering 30-day food boxes, ready-to-eat food rations and fresh bread to communities most in need all along Ukraine¡¯s 850 kilometres frontline, as well as cash assistance where local markets are well-stocked and accessible.
The European Union also continues to support the Â鶹³ÉÈ˰æ-led Logistics Cluster, which facilitates humanitarian convoys to high-risk areas and provides services such as transport and storage to more than 120 humanitarian organizations in Ukraine.
¡°For more than three years, Ukrainian families along the frontline have endured unimaginable hardship. The European Union stands with them ¡ª not only by providing immediate assistance, but also by supporting the vital logistics that make humanitarian access possible,¡± said Head of the EU Humanitarian Aid Office in Ukraine Marianna Franco. ¡°Our partnership with Â鶹³ÉÈ˰æ ensures that help reaches people where it is needed most, and that the humanitarian community can continue delivering even under the most difficult circumstances.¡±
Since 2022, the European Union has contributed more than €130 million to Â鶹³ÉÈ˰æ supporting food and cash assistance in Ukraine ¨C making it one of Â鶹³ÉÈ˰桯s key donors in the country.
Thanks to the generosity of the European Union and other donors, Â鶹³ÉÈ˰æ continues to provide food and cash assistance to around 1 million Ukrainians each month, 90% of which is delivered in frontline regions. Nearly all the food that Â鶹³ÉÈ˰æ distributes in Ukraine is bought locally ¨C which supports economic recovery and food production.
